How to install a plinth in the gap between two cabinets

In Quick3DPlan, there is ‘no direct method‘ to place a plinth in a gap between two cabinets, but it can be simulated using the program’s tools. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. First, you need to know the distance between the two cabinets. If you don’t know it, you can ‘add a dimension‘ by right-clicking and selecting “Add dimension”:
Add dimension.

You can also find out the distance in the furniture insertion window, in the “Free space” field:

  1. Next, click on ‘Furnishing → Add unit‘, select the ‘Flat panel‘ option, and in the ‘Dimensions‘ button, set the following measurements: set the ‘Width‘ to the distance between the two cabinets, and set the ‘Height‘ to the height of the plinth (in our example, the measurements are 30.24cm wide and 15cm high):

  1. Now, click on the ‘Mouldings‘ button, and disable all the options: Plinth, Worktop, and Upstand:

  1. Click ‘OK‘, and then click ‘Manual insertion‘:

  1. Place this ‘panel‘ in the gap between the two cabinets:
Place the 'panel'
  1. Next, right-click on the panel and select ‘Move‘:
Move the 'panel'
  1. In the new window that appears, enter 1 in the gap field, and click the arrow to place the plinth in its correct position:
Move the 'panel'
  1. NOTE: When viewing the design in 3D, the panel may not be correctly aligned with the cabinets’ plinths. In that case, repeat the process of moving the panel until it is placed in its final position:

  1. Finally, to apply the same material to the ‘panel‘ we just inserted and to the cabinets’ ‘plinth‘, go to the ‘Photo → Units and mouldings‘ tab, select the same material in the ‘Carcase‘ and ‘Baseboard‘ sections, and click OK to apply the changes:

  1. If you disable the ‘Apply to all‘ option, you can apply the material only to the panel or to a single cabinet that you select.
