How to add SketchUp® blocks into Quick3DPlan or Quick3DCloset
🎯 Objective
In this tutorial, we will learn how to download 3D blocks from SketchUp® to insert them into Quick3DPlan or Quick3DCloset and thus enhance the design.
SketchUp® website
To begin, we need to go to a website where SketchUp® blocks (.skp files) can be downloaded. In this case, we will go to the official website: https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/
Download block
The first step is to register on the website in order to be able to download any block.

Next, as an example, we will search for an armchair (‘sillón’ in Spanish) using the search bar. Once we choose the one we like, we will need to download it by selecting “Download” and always choosing the SketchUp® format:

Insert block into the program
Now we will insert the downloaded block into the program. To do this, we will do the following:
- We will open Quick3DPlan or Quick3DCloset and go to the “Projects → Import from SketchUp” tab:

- A window will open showing the SketchUp® block that we previously saved.

✅ (NOTE: It is recommended to create a folder to store all the blocks you download.)
- Next, the following window will be displayed, showing information about the element we are inserting:

- Once we select the block, we can insert it like any other accessory in the program.

✅ (NOTE: Quick3DPlan or Quick3DCloset may “freeze” or take a moment before displaying the SketchUp® object prior to placing it. Simply wait a few seconds without doing anything.)
Change materials
It is possible that when inserting the SketchUp block into the program, it may appear without materials:

To change the materials of the inserted element, go to the ‘Photo → Accessory materials‘ tab and select the block. A window will then appear showing all the parts of the SketchUp block whose materials can be modified:

- ✅ To apply the materials, follow these steps:
- Select a part of the block from the upper list.
- Choose a material group in the lower-left part of the window.
- Select the material you want to apply in the right-hand section.
- Click the “OK” button to apply the selected material.
Available modifications
*NOTE: Keep in mind that the available options may vary depending on the block you use.
When we select it, we can right-click and we will see some options available for the block, such as: Move, Rotate, Erase, and Copy.
