Quick3DPlan – How to Draw a Room

Overview

This article explains how to draw a room using the tools in the Architecture tab in Quick3DPlan. It details all the available functions for walls, partitions, pillars, and moldings.

1. Draw the Room

Options to create the room:

  • Choose preset shapes
  • Draw the room manually

If you choose a preset shape:

  • Click on the drawing of the desired shape
  • Enter the measurements of each wall
  • Enter the height and thickness of the walls
  • Click Accept so the design appears on the screen

If you choose Draw room:

  • The program will warn that the current design will be lost → confirm Yes
  • Enter the room height and wall thickness
  • Click Accept to start drawing freely

2. Tools for Drawing Wall Segments

Wall length:

  • Enter the length of the segment (example: 400 cm)
  • Click Accept
  • Use the left mouse button to draw the segment

You can also type the value directly on the screen.
Example: delete the current value (400) and enter a new one (300).

Triangulation:

  • Allows you to draw segments with angles
  • Enter the wall measurements → the program automatically calculates the angle
  • Enter the segment length directly on the screen (example: 100)

Wall angle:

  • Allows you to define a specific angle between segments
  • Enter the desired angle → click Accept
  • Then enter the segment length

For total freedom, you can use an angle of and draw as you like.

Undo and cancel:

  • Undo last point → removes the last drawn segment
  • Cancel walls → removes all walls

Close room:

  • Finishes the room design → it will automatically appear in the workspace

3. Add Partitions

Insert internal divisions:

  • Select the height and thickness of the partition
  • Indicate the wall where it will be inserted
  • Specify the exact insertion point
  • Enter the length of the partition
  • To extend it to another wall, click on the second wall when it turns red

4. Add Pillars

Insert pillars:

  • Enter the height, width, and depth of the pillar
  • Before inserting, use the space bar to rotate the pillar
  • Move closer to a wall so it adopts the correct direction
  • Click to place the pillar

Note: It also allows you to draw partitions freely, without depending on existing walls.
Example: partition with height 240, width 10, and depth 100 → it can be placed anywhere and rotated using the space bar.

5. Add Moldings

Types of moldings:

  • Baseboards
  • Cornices

How they work:

  • They are inserted on all the walls in the room
  • They allow you to customize the overall appearance of the design

6. 3D View

Final verification:

Switch to 3D view to observe the inserted objects.

You will be able to see:

  • Room walls
  • Pillars
  • Partitions
  • Baseboards
  • Cornices

Final Note

Using these tools together allows you to build complete, precise rooms with architectural details, ready to move on to other design phases in Quick3DPlan.
