Quick3DPlan – How to create, save and open projects

This article explains how to create a new project in Quick3DPlan, how to save it correctly, and how to open a previously saved file to continue working.
1. How to create a new project in Quick3DPlan
How do you start a project from scratch?
When you open Quick3DPlan, an initial menu appears with two options:
- Create a new project
- Open an existing project
To start from scratch, select New project.
How do you choose the room type?
After selecting New project, the program will ask for the type of room.
For example, you can choose a rectangular room.
What measurements must be entered?
Next, you must enter:
- The wall dimensions
- The room height
- The wall thickness
Once these values are confirmed, the program will automatically draw the room in the workspace.
2. How to save a project in Quick3DPlan
How do you save the project for the first time?
To avoid losing your design, it is necessary to save the file.
Steps:
- Go to the Projects tab
- Click Save
- Choose the location where the file will be stored
- Enter a name for the project
- Confirm the save
Once the destination and name are defined, every time you click Save, the program will store the project in the same location with the same name.
3. How to save a copy with another name (Save As)
What is “Save As” used for?
The Save As tool allows you to create a copy of the project with a different name.
It is useful when:
- You want to make changes without losing the original design
- You need to create different versions of the same project
- You want to test changes without risk
How to use “Save As”?
- Go to the Projects tab
- Select Save As
- Enter the new file name
- Choose the location where it will be saved
- Click Save
This creates a new independent version of the original project.
4. How to open an existing project in Quick3DPlan
How do you open a saved file?
To open a previously saved project:
- Go to the Projects tab
- Click Open
- Locate the file in the folder where it was saved
- Select it
The project will automatically appear in the workspace so you can continue editing it.
